I love Mother's day!  I always did love Mother's day because my mom is and always has been the kind of Mom that would do everything in her power for the benefit of her children.  So, HAPPY MOTHERS DAY TO MY LOVELY MOM!  But, It has an even sweeter reward as a mom for the first time on Mothers day...  How you ask?? Well, I treated this day kinda like an extra birthday.  I didn't cook dinner for starters.  But, I also traded chores.  I actually mowed the lawn today.  Don't feel bad for me.  I traded cleaning the house and laundry for mowing the yard and trimming the bushes.  I think it's a great idea to trade chores every once in a while.  Makes it something different.  It was a nice, cool day and I had the music going and, unfortunately for my neighbors, I selected a "Dance," playlist and sang for the entire hour.

So, for all the special women out there that are mothers, you are given the most special job granted by God to be a Mom.  He must think we are pretty special to be given such an awesome gift.  I hope to remember my focus of being a mommy is not to make sure that the beds are made perfectly but to be sure to enjoy, play, laugh and encourage an independent spirit in my daughter and every other child we hope to be gifted with in the future.

Here's an Orchid taken at Powell Gardens this weekend.

Last Saturday, Becca & Brian wed at Prince of Peace in Olathe.  I have to say, Everyone looked awesome!  You can see Becca getting ready for her wedding here.  This wedding truly was a great time and the entire wedding party and the bride and grooms families were beyond amazing and nice.  Here are some favorite photographs...it's too bad we only had about 45 minutes for pictures actually because we went to some crazy cool locations at the suggestion of the Trolley driver, Dan, with Crossroad Tours.

Here's the gorgeous lighting in Prince of Peace in Olathe.  Since most Catholic ceremonies don't allow flash, it helps to have all the windows.  And, a cool camera doesn't hurt either!

Prince-of-Peace.jpgBrian, the groom, definitely has his style sense since he selected these gray suits for his groomsmen and himself.

groomsmen-gray-suit.jpgAnd, of course, Becca and her bridesmaids looked awesome.  In fact, Becca just kept saying to her bridesmaids how awesome they looked all day.  It was sweet!

Bride-with-bridesmaids.jpgThe flowers were gorgeous, especially the bridal bouquet, but I never got the card from the florist, so I don't know who to credit...

Bridal-Bouquet.jpgAnd I LOVE this bridal portrait of Becca with her bouquet!  She has one of those, I just got married! smiles on here.

bride-with-bouquet.jpgAnd, of course, the happy bride and groom together at a garden in Kansas City.

kansas-city-bride-and-groom.jpgThere's something about a wedding that tells you how a bride and groom will handle their life together.  Maybe it's the fact that it NEVER goes exactly according to plan and how that is handled says a lot about two people.  Becca and Brian were put to this test when their reception schedule was changed around last minute (although no one would have known).  I was super impressed at not only the genuine smiles they both kept but also the love and support they gave each other at the same time.  It was beautiful to witness!

Congratulations and I hope you're enjoying your honeymoon!

I met with an awesome bride, Laura, on Monday and it reminded me to post a "Favorite Blogs I Follow" post.  As a photographer in Kansas City, I have to keep up with wedding trends.  If I didn't, it would be like a real estate agent that knew nothing about the neighborhood.  So, I follow a TON of awesome photography and wedding blogs and I've listed them below with descriptions for you to check out as well.  These are also blogs that inspire me with my own wedding photography.  I hope these blogs help as you plan your wedding.

The Wedding Chicks Blog  This blog is an amazing tool for planning a wedding and includes tons of DIY tutorials and ideas.  Love this blog!

Junebug Weddings | Seattle, Los Angeles, Orange County Wedding Blog  One of my favorites.

A Cup of Jo
A writer that includes some wedding related posts, giveaways and photography related posts.

Once Wed | Wedding Ideas, Used Wedding Dresses and Wedding Blog

Ruffled | Vintage Settings for Modern Weddings  This blog includes some DIY projects that look amazing!

The Brides Cafe

Style Me Pretty| The Ultimate Wedding Blog

The Southern Weddings Daily Blog I love the ideas that are shown on this blog daily.

Snippet & Ink  | Daily Wedding Inspiration

100 Layer Cake

Lucky Me

Elizabeth Anne Designs | Wedding Ideas & Inspirations

Green Wedding Shoes | Head over Heels for All Things Weddings

And if you would like to follow any of these wedding photography and planning blogs, I suggest using Google Reader.  It's free and easy!  By the way, none of these blogs are affiliated with me, I just simply enjoy reading them.

Oh, and I'd be foolish not to include my own blog as long as you are choosing your blogs to follow ;)  Kansas Wedding Photographer and Wedding photographer Blog

So happy blogging and if you have your own wedding planning blog, please feel free to share them in the comments.  I love seeing blogs from the brides & grooms that I photograph!

Becca & Brian have an awesome blog coming later this week but I wanted to share with everyone how beautiful Becca looked!  And her bubbly personality is showing off in both of these images.

And here's a funny little short clip taken during a "jump" in front of the fountain at the Plaza in Kansas City, Missouri.  This video is taken with the Canon 7D camera.  I'm still playing around with the video functions on this camera and it's so fun!  Hope this makes you smile.  It cracks me up!

I got such a kick looking through the I Faces contest this week.  The theme is Then & Now.  I'm not sure what was more fun here, looking at the final image, taking our photos or looking at the other entries!  Thank you to the girls at I Faces for such a great time as always with the creative themes each week!  Be sure to go check out the rest of the entries (there's only a small number to go through.  Usually there's about 500-600 entries each week!)

You must be able to laugh at yourself!
